Joe Curiale Portrait
Composer and author Joseph Curiale has been described as “the poster boy for dreams come true.” Arriving in Los Angeles in 1980 with nothing more than a passion for music and an unshakable belief in himself, he was writing music for The Tonight Show by 1982 and soon after became the first staff songwriter in the history of Columbia Pictures. He has composed and orchestrated music for movies, TV, and live performances, including Steve Martin's Roxanne. Among the television themes he has composed is the theme song for the long running, Emmy Award winning children's program, Nick News. His work on the soundtrack for the movie Breakin' sold over 4 million copies, while his orchestrations for A Tribute To Sammy Davis Jr. earned him an Emmy nomination. His compositions and arrangements have been recorded or performed by more than one hundred artists ranging from Janet and Michael Jackson to Kathleen Battle.

A near-death experience in Singapore in 1994 inspired Mr. Curiale to pursue his dreams of a life in concert music, to be able to express his musical soul freely without the limiting parameters of commercial music. He has since released two original CDs on the Orchard Road label,
Awakening and The Music Of Life. Recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields, they feature soloists including Doc Severinsen and some of the finest musicians from China and Japan. His music is often showcased on National Public Radio as well as in concert band, marching band, and symphonic performances. Reviewer Kevin Sutton has described Mr. Curiale as “a composer who is serious about his beliefs, deep in his thoughts and emotions…. He says what he means and means what he says, and is refreshingly unabashed about his desire to create beauty, and in his efforts to uplift the human state.” A deeply spiritual man, his works are recognized the world over for their passion, beauty and sense of wonder.

A true Renaissance Man who is creative to the core, Joseph Curiale is an accomplished writer, poet, photographer, artist and educator, whose books
The Spirit of Creativity, and The Wisdom of Creativity, are insightful, passionate and inspiring guides to exploring, unlocking and honoring the creative spirit in everyone.
